As a sportsman, he was a great champion but it seems that as a person, he has serious education shortcomings. Former tennis great Ilie Nastase was involved in a quarrel in downtown Timisoara on July 15 in an incident that nobody would have believed true if it hadn't been caught on camera. Bothered by the presence of a female journalist who was trying to interview him, Nastase started swearing at the woman and threatened to 'break her face.' Moreover, a month later, Nastase thinks he was right to behave like that and says he 'doesn't give a shit' about the matter.
In the attempt to probably impress his new conquest, former model Brigitte Sfat, a known member of the Timisoara underworld, Nastase flexed his muscles in front of a journalist who was trying to get a statement from him.
"You want me to break your face, fuck off, you fucking bitch... You want me to take that camera off you? To break it? You stupid fuck!" Nastase told the journalist. The footage was released by blogulmafiadintimisoara.wordpress.com
A month and a half after the incident, Nastase refuses to make any comments and even puts on a display of useless bravery.
"I don't give a shit. It happened a month ago. Please don't contact me again for such nonsense," Nastase said over the phone.
"Just like you are allowed to take pictures of me and film me, I am allowed to react. If somebody comes to bother me, I have the right to do what I want. I am not a bad person but if somebody comes up and shoves a camera in my face, I react. She (the journalist) had no right over me, just as I had no right over her. And when there is a law saying that the person who comes to bother me will serve jail time, just like I would if I beat thet person up, then things will go all right in Romania. Nobody has any right over me, as I don't have any right on anybody. Why? That they're journalists and I'm a puppet?" Nastase said later on for Adevarul de Seara.
After his divorce from Amalia Nastase, whom he described as too possessive, Ilie began an affair with former Playboy star Brigitte Sfat, who was in prison for more than two years after being found guilty of ordering the kidnapping of a business partner.
Lately, Nastase was the image of several prestigious companies, such as BRD, and was also chosen to represent the country's image in the campaign, "Romania, The land of choice," together with two other sports greats, Gheorghe Hagi and Nadia Comaneci. He recently attended the launch of the new country brand "Explore the Carpathian garden," in Shanghai.
The former world leader of male tennis holds no public office in Romania anymore. Two years ago, he resigned as head of the Romanian Tennis Federation, declaring himself "defeated by the country's legal system and media." A few months later, he was advanced to the rank of retired general-major by presidential decree. This year, he was named national ambassador for the Alliance of Civilizations.
Death threats against a journalist
This is not the first nervous fit of the kind thrown by Nastase, according to Realitatea.net. Known to have a bad temper ever since he was playing tennis, Nastase reportedly made death threats against Evenimentul Zilei's journalist Marius Chican two years ago, as he was bothered by the journalist's investigation into the Romanian Tennis Federation. "After the first day of the competition, I got a message from Nastase, president of the Federation, through other people. His words were exactly these: 'I'll have someone kill him!' Initially, I took it as a joke typical of Nastase, who over the years made death threats against rivals, referees and officials. But that was only the beginning," Chican said at the time.
The man who slept with 2,500 women
Magazine Maxim ranked Nastase in the sixth position in the chart Living Sex Legends, as the former tennis player is believed to have slept with about 2,500 women. His most famous lover was singer Diana Ross. 'Nasty' got married at 26, to Dominique Grazia, with whom he has a child. Then came the divorce and another marriage, in 1984, to actress Alexandra King, with whom he adopted two children, according to Adevarul. The third marriage, in 2004, was to Amalia Teodosescu, whom he divorced earlier this year and with whom he has two little girls.

Deranjat de prezenta unei jurnaliste, care incerca sa-i ia un interviu, Nastase a inceput s-o injure pe femeie ca la usa cortulu si amenintand-o ca-i sparge fata. Mai mult, la o luna de la incident, Nastase se considera indreptatit de acest comportament si spune ca-l doare in fund de acest subiect.

La o lună şi jumătate după incident, Ilie Năstase refuză să comenteze acest episod, ba mai mult face un nou exces de teribilism.
"Mă doare-n fund. A fost acum o lună. Vă rog să nu mă mai contactaţi cu astfel de prostii", a declarat, telefonic, Ilie Năstase.
"Cum aveti voi voie sa imi faceti poze si sa ma filmati, asa am si eu voie sa reactionez. Daca vine cineva si ma deranjeaza, am si eu dreptul sa fac ce vreau. Eu nu sunt om rau, dar daca vine si ma ia cu raul in fata si cu un aparat pe care mi-l pune in fata, reactionez si eu. Ea (n.r. jurnalista) nu are dreptul asupra mea mai mult decat am eu dreptul asupra ei. Si cand o sa se dea o lege in care spune ca cel care vine si ma deranjeaza face si el puscarie cum fac si eu daca il bat pe el, atunci o sa mearga bine Romania. Nu are nimeni dreptul mai mult asupra mea decat am eu asupra lui. De ce? Ca el e ziarist si eu ce, marioneta?". a declarat Nastase ulterior pentru Adevarul de Seara.
Dupa divortul de Amalia Nastase, despre care spunea ca este prea posesiva, Ilie a inceput o noua relatie cu fosta vedetă Playboy Brigitte Sfăt, cea care a făcut închisoare vreme de mai bine de doi ani, după ce a fost condamnată pentru că ar fi comandat sechestrarea unui partener de afaceri.
In ultimul timp, Ilie Nastase a fost imaginea mai multor firme de prestigiu, printre care si BRD, si a fost ales sa reprezinta imaginea tarii in campania "Romania, The land of choice", alaturi de Gheorghe Hagi si Nadia Comaneci. Fostul lider mondial al tenisului masculin nu mai deţine nicio funcţie publică în România. A ameninţat un jurnalist cu moartea
Ilie Năstase nu este la prima ieşire nervoasă de acest gen sustine Realitatea.net. Cunoscut încă de pe vremea când juca tenis drept un temperamental, Năstase l-a ameninţat cu moartea în urmă cu doi ani pe jurnalistul de la Evenimentul Zilei Marius Chican, deranjat fiind de o investigaţie a acestuia legată de Federaţia Română de Tenis. “După prima zi a competiţiei, am primit un mesaj, prin intermediari, de la Ilie Năstase, preşedintele Federaţiei Române de Tenis. Cuvânt cu cuvânt, el a transmis: "O să pun pe cineva să-l omoare!. Iniţial, am luat-o ca pe o glumă marca Ilie Năstase, care, în decursul vremii, "a ameninţat cu moartea adversari, arbitri şi oficiali. Nu a fost decât începutul”, declara atunci Chican.
