The Constitutional Court decided Tuesday, with 6 votes for and 3 against, the referendum regarding the impechement of president Traian Băsescu, held on July 29th is invalid. The president of the Constitutional Court, Augustin Zegrean, on Tuesday said that CC concluded that the referendum is valid in terms of organization, but the quorum condition was not met.
The referendum for the impeachement of president Traian Băsescu was validated in terms of organization, but the cvorum demanded by the law, of 50% plus one, was not met, said Tuesday the CC president Augustin Zegrean:
"Of the total number of 18,292,464 people registered on the permanent election lists, 8,459,053 people (46,24 %) voted, of which 7,403,836 (87,52 %) people answered „YES” to the question „Do you agree with the impeachment of Romania's President?”, and 943,375 people (11,15 %) answered „NO”.

Romania's Constitutional Court (CCR) judges meet Wednesday at 10,00 a.m. to read in plenum the decision regarding the 29th of July referendum. The decision will be then sent to the Parliament.

Curtea Constituţională a decis, marţi, cu 6 voturi la 3, invalidarea referendumului privind demiterea preşedintelui Traian Băsescu, ce s-a desfăşurat pe 29 iulie. Preşedintele Curţii Constituţionale, Augustin Zegrean, a declarat, marţi, că CC a constatat că referendumul este valid din punct de vedere al organizării, dar că nu s-a îndeplinit condiţia de cvorum.
Referendumul pentru demiterea preşedintelui Traian Băsescu a fost valid sub aspectul organizării, dar nu a fost întrunit cvorumul cerut de lege respectiv de 50% plus unu, a declarat, marţi, preşedintele CCR, Augustin Zegrean.:
"din totalul de 18.292.464 de persoane înscrise în listele electorale permanente au participat la vot 8.459.053 de persoane (46.24 %), din care 7.403.836 (87.52 %) au răspuns „DA” la întrebarea „Sunteţi de acord cu demiterea Preşedintelui României?”, iar 943.375 (11.15 %) au răspuns „NU”.
La data publicării prezentei hotărâri în Monitorul Oficial al României, Partea I, încetează interimatul domnului George - Crin Laurenţiu Antonescu în exercitarea funcţiei de Preşedinte al României.

Judecătorii Curţii Constituţionale a României (CCR) se reunesc miercuri, la ora 10,00, pentru a citi în plen hotărârea privind referendumul din 29 iulie. Hotărârea va fi transmisă apoi Parlamentului.
