Alec Baldwin has been cutting a slimmer figure of late and last night the 30 Rock actor revealed why. The 53-year-old says he lost 30 pounds after discovering that he was prediabetic, Daily Mail reports.

Speaking to Entertainment Tonight at the Screen Actors Guild Awards he said he shed the weight in a bid to eliminate his chance of the disease progressing. His revelation came after he won the Best Actor in a TV Comedy statue.

Alec discovered his health problem in May. A Prediabetic condition means that the patient has some but not all of the criteria to be deemed diabetic. A sufferer's blood sugar level is usually in between a normal blood sugar level and a diabetic state, making them highly susceptible to developing Type 2 diabetes.
