Vodafone, the second-largest player on the local mobile phone market, has started an aggressive commercial campaign on its own webpage, stating that it will offer a free SIM card that could be used for 100 minutes of calls within the network to any customer that asks for one, ZF writes.
“You can order a free promotional SIM only once in 12 months. Fill out the form and you will receive the SIM card in two weeks’ time at most, for free,” the company’s website reads. The customers that order the card and then activate it receive 100 minutes of calls within the network, the same source shows.
“Activate your free promotional Vodafone SIM card and you will have 100 minutes in the network, available 30 days after the activation. You can activate the promotional SIM card whenever you like, within a period of 12 months. Moreover, you will benefit from 4 months of activity and a grace period of 10 months.”
A SIM card with a phone number usually costs around RON 25. Vodafone’s move is not a novelty. Market leader Orange launched a similar campaign – currently active – four years ago. However, this is a surprise given the fact that in recent years Vodafone officials frequently attacked Orange’s free distribution of SIM cards, claiming that these actions artificially hike the number of clients on the market.

Vodafone, al doilea jucător de pe piaţa locală de telefonie mobilă, a demarat pe pagina web proprie o campanie comercială agresivă, prin care le va trimite gratuit acasă o cartelă SIM cu număr şi care poate fi utilizată fără niciun cost pentru a realiza 100 de minute de apeluri în reţea către orice client care solicită acest lucru, potrivit datelor de pe pagina web, scrie ZF.
“Poţi comanda un sim promoţional gratuit, o singură dată în 12 luni calendaristice. Completează formularul de mai jos şi primeşti SIM-ul în maximum 2 săptămâni, gratuit”, conform datelor de pe pagina web a companiei. Clienţii care comandă cartela şi apoi o activează primesc 100 de minute de apeluri în reţea, potrivit aceleiaşi surse. “Activează-ţi Cartela Vodafone - SIM promoţional gratuit şi ai 100 de minute în reţea, valabile 30 de zile de la activare.
Poţi activa SIM-ul promoţional oricând vrei, într-un interval de maxim 12 luni. În plus, beneficiezi de 4 luni de activitate şi 10 luni perioadă de graţie”.
În mod obişnuit, o cartelă SIM cu număr costă în jur de 25 de lei. Mutarea Vodafone nu este o noutate - liderul pieţei Orange lansând o campanie similară - activă şi în prezent, în urmă cu patru ani de zile, însă este o surpriză, în condiţiile în care în ultimii ani oficialii companiei au atacat frecvent distribuirea gratuită de cartele de către Orange, susţinând că aceste acţiuni măresc artificial numărul de clienţi de pe piaţă.
