Danone Romania preventively pulled from the market dairy products that may contain traces of milk contaminated with aflatoxin and blocked 75 tons of products within its own warehouse, after test results confirmed the presence of M1 aflatoxin in a shipment of milk from one of its milk suppliers, Danone Romania announced.

“After receiving the result showing that a shipment from one of our milk suppliers tested positive for M1 aflatoxin, result that was exceeding the legal limit, Danone Romania immediately ceased collecting milk from the said dairy farm and, for the safety of consumers, decided to block in its warehouse 75 tons of dairy products and to preventively pull from the shelves some products that may contain traces of contaminated milk from that farm. The process is taking place very rapidly and we are making all efforts to finalize it by the end of the day,” the Danone Romania communiqué reads.

Danone representatives pointed out only that the product concerned is a type of yogurt, without revealing its brand. The producer, which has a market share of over 50 per cent on the yogurt segment, stated that 59.6 tons of products should be pulled from the market. By morning 75 per cent of that quantity had already been withdrawn.

According to ZF estimates, at an average weight of 200 grams Danone is pulling 300,000 pots of yogurt from the market. The quantity withdrawn represents less than 1 per cent of the monthly production, Danone representatives stated.

The representatives of supermarket chains state that the French group asked them to pull some batches of Activia, Casa Buna and Nutriday yogurts from the shelves yesterday. Danone representatives however did not release the names of the brands, but pointed out that certain batches of products are concerned, the main element of identification being their shelf life, and the process does not affect the whole brand.

For instance, the company claims that it is pulling from the market the 125-gram muesli yogurt whose shelf life expires on April 12, 2013, but the same products with a different shelf life will remain on the shelves.

Here is the list of products pulled from the stores: 125-gram muesli yogurt, 125-gram muesli peaches yogurt, 125-gram yogurt with cereals, honey and nuts, 190-gram 12 per cent sour cream, 850-gram 12 per cent sour cream, 400-gram 18 per cent sour cream, 140-gram natural yogurt, 400-gram natural yogurt.

Danone România retrage preventiv de pe piaţă unele produse care ar fi putut să conţină urme de lapte contaminat cu aflatoxină şi a blocat în depozitul propriu 75 de tone de produse, după ce rezultatele analizelor au confirmat prezenţa aflatoxinei M1 pentru o livrare de la unul dintre furnizorii săi de lapte, a anunţat Danone România.

"După primirea rezultatului pentru aflatoxină M1 pentru o livrare de la unul dintre furnizorii săi de lapte, rezultat care era peste limita legală, Danone România a sistat imediat colecta de lapte de la ferma respectivă şi, pentru siguranţa consumatorilor, a decis să blocheze în depozitul său 75 tone de produse şi să retragă preventiv de pe piaţă unele produse care ar fi putut să conţină urme de lapte contaminat de la acea fermă. Procesul de retragere se desfăşoară foarte rapid şi facem toate eforturile să fie finalizat până la sfârşitul zilei", se arată în comunicatul Danone România.

Reprezentanţii Danone au precizat doar că este vorba despre un produs de tip iaurt, fără a preciza însă marca acestuia. Producătorul, care deţine o cotă de piaţă de peste 50% pe segmentul iaurturilor, spune că 59,6 tone de produse trebuie retrase de pe piaţă, iar până dimineaţă 75% din această cantitate era deja retrasă.

Potrivit calculelor ZF la o greutate medie de 200 de grame, Danone retrage de pe piaţă 300.000 de cutii de iaurt. Cantitatea retrasă reprezintă mai puţin de 1% din producţia lunară, au spus reprezentanţii Danone.

Reprezentanţi ai lanţurilor de supermarketuri afirmă că grupul francez a solicitat de ieri retragerea de la comercializare a unor loturi de produse din gamele Activia, smântână Casa Bună şi Nutriday. Reprezentanţii Danone nu furnizează însă numele brandurilor, dar precizează că este vorba doar despre anumite loturi de produse, principalul element de identificare al acestor loturi fiind data de expirare, iar procesul de retragere nu afectează în niciun caz întregul brand. De exemplu, compania spune că retrage de pe piaţă iaurtul cu musli de 125 de grame care expiră în data de 12 aprilie 2013, dar aceleaşi produse cu altă dată de expirare sunt în continuare pe rafturi.
