Dimitrios Sophocleous, managing director CFR SA, stated on Thursday that he wants “a refresh” at Gara de Nord train station, one that includes maintenance and rehabilitation works but also replacing the kiosks in order to make them look “like period kiosks.”

“There are some kiosks, they look as they look today. Our intention is to make all kiosks look the same, to look like period kiosks,” Sophocleous stated during his first press conference. Sophocleous stated that he goes to Gara de Nord every week, at 7.30 AM, and notices the irregularities. “We hope that in 2-3 months some weak points will be changed in Gara de Nord. I believe I enjoy the station master’s and regional director’s support,” the head of CFR added.

The changes consist of rehabilitating the benches and chairs, replacing the garbage bins, but also the painting when the weather permits. In what concerns replacing the painting, Sophocleous stated that the materials will be bought by CFR and the works could be done by company employees with the union’s consent.

On the other hand, the repair of the train station’s roof would entail a significant investment for which the company has not allocated funds for the time being and is part of a separate project.

Directorul general al CFR SA, Dimitrios Sophocleous, a declarat joi că doreşte "un refresh" la Gara de Nord, care include lucrări de întreţinere şi reabilitare, dar şi schimbarea şi uniformizarea chioşcurilor de pe peronul Gării de Nord, care să arate "precum cele de epocă".

"Sunt nişte chioşcuri, fiecare arată aşa cum arată astăzi. Intenţia noastră este să facem o uniformizare a chioşcurilor respective, să arate precum cele de epocă", a spus Sophocleous, la prima conferinţă cu presa.

Sophoclepus a afirmat că merge în Gara de Nord aproape săptămânal, la 7:30 dimineaţa, şi observă lucrurile care sunt în neregulă.

"Sperăm că în 2-3 luni nişte puncte negre din Gara de Nord vor fi schimbate. Cred că am tot sprijinul de la şeful de gară şi de la directorul de regională", a adăugat şeful CFR.

Schimbările vizează reabilitarea băncilor şi scaunelor, schimbarea coşurilor, dar şi zugrăveli, atunci când vremea o va permite. Pentru activitatea din urmă, Sophocleous a afirmat că materialele vor fi achiziţionate de CFR, iar lucrările ar putea fi realizate de angajaţii companiei, după acordul sindicatelor.

Pe de altă parte, repararea acoperişului de pe peron ar implica o investiţie majoră, pentru care compania nu a bugetat fonduri deocamdată şi care face obiectul unui proiect separat.
